Marketing Officer (P/T, 7 days per month)
The Marketing Officer will be responsible for developing and managing Firefly Arts’ marketing and communication strategies. This role is rooted in a youth-led approach, ensuring that young people are at the heart of shaping Firefly’s public presence. Working closely with young participants, the Marketing Officer will facilitate and support them in co-designing and co-creating engaging content that reflects their voices, experiences, and ideas.
The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring that Firefly’s marketing strategy is developed collaboratively with young people, empowering them to take the lead in content creation, social media engagement, and communication campaigns. This includes providing creative guidance, offering technical support, and ensuring that their contributions are meaningfully integrated into Firefly’s outreach efforts. Roles and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
– Develop and schedule engaging content across Firefly Arts’ social media platforms.
– Manage social media activity, ensuring content resonates with our community, and that our platforms reflect the voices of the young people we serve.
– Co-create marketing materials with young people, including posters, flyers, and promotional graphics using tools like Canva or similar design platforms.
– Work collaboratively with young people to implement a marketing strategy that integrates their ideas and reflects their unique perspectives.
– Take the lead on developing and updating Firefly’s website, including a dedicated section documenting the ARC legacy.
– Develop and send out monthly newsletters.
– Co-design promotional materials with young people for Firefly’s events, workshops, and performances, leveraging platforms like Eventbrite, social media, and other digital tools.
Person Specification
Essential:
– Experience in marketing, digital communications, or content creation.
– Strong skills in social media management (with a focus on Facebook, Instagram, Tik Tok and YouTube).
– Ability to create engaging visual content using Photoshop, Canva or similar design tools.
– Experience writing newsletters and managing email marketing platforms (e.g., Mailchimp).
– Excellent communication and organisational skills.
– Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
– Strong writing and storytelling skills, with the ability to support young people in shaping narratives.
– Ability to work collaboratively with young people, valuing their input and empowering them to take creative ownership.
– Website development experience (basic knowledge of WordPress, Squarespace, or similar platforms).
Desirable:
– Experience working in the arts or charity sector.
– Familiarity with Eventbrite and WhatsApp group management.
– Experience delivering training or workshops in digital media or creative marketing.

Contract: Freelance contract for three years, 7 days per month
Location: Flexible, with weekly presence required at Firefly Arts’ office in West Lothian
Fee: A fixed fee of £14,000 for the first year with an annual review (paid in 12 monthly instalments)

P.A.C.T Project Coordinator (P/T 0.6, 3 days per week)
Firefly are seeking a coordinator to take the lead on their P.A.C.T (Positive Actions for Challenging Times) project. P.A.C.T was originally created in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, funded for 3 years (2021-2023) through National Lottery Community Fund Young Start. Firefly have recently received a further 3 years financial support (2025-2027) through Young Start to ensure this project can continue. The Project Coordinator will oversee the entirety of the P.A.C.T project, liaising with the Firefly team and external agencies to create and deliver arts and media skills project that give young people throughout West Lothian, no matter their social or economic background, the opportunity to develop their confidence and creative skills through the arts. The P.A.C.T project aims to encourage and support young people to speak out and take action on issues that relate/matter to them, their communities and society as a whole. Roles and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
– Plan and deliver weekly theatre/drama sessions for young people throughout West Lothian.
– Create and oversee the delivery of 2 new classes at Firefly; a film club and a creative writing group.
– Oversee the creation of a youth board which will meet quarterly.
– P.A.C.T will run alongside other Firefly projects, and therefore there will be regular opportunities for professional exchange and development.
– The P.A.C.T Coordinator will work in collaboration with other Firefly practitioners and be supported by and report to Firefly’s Artistic Director.
– Create and contribute to the submission of annual reports to the funder.
– Collaborate with the Marketing Officer to encourage and provide practical support to young people taking an active role in managing Firefly’s social media platforms and developing content that resonates with their peers.
– The role will be line-managed by the Chief Executive Officer (CEO).
Person Specification:
– Experience working with young people, ideally in creative or educational settings.
– Experience managing and delivering quality youth arts activity.
– A strong interest or background in theatre, drama, or the arts.
– Experience of, and commitment to, working with young people who are socially, emotionally or economically marginalised.
– Excellent leadership and communication skills.
– Ability to travel to and from Howden Park Centre and other locations throughout West Lothian
– PVG clearance.

This is an exciting opportunity for experienced individuals to lead weekly drama sessions, guiding young people through creative projects that explore theatre, encourage collaboration, and promote socialisation. Roles and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
– Plan and deliver engaging, inclusive, and creative weekly drama sessions.
– Lead young people in exploring theatre and drama while fostering teamwork and self-expression.
– Oversee the creative process of group projects, ensuring all participants feel supported and valued.
– Collaborate with an assistant present at each session to ensure smooth facilitation.
– Maintain a safe, respectful, and enjoyable environment for all participants.
